Belfast Harlequins have delivered a massive statement of intent ahead of the new EY Irish Hockey League campaign by signing Irish internationals Lizzie Colvin and Zoe Wilson.
Last season, Quins had to beat Lurgan in a play-off to avoid relegation from the top tier in their debut in the competition.
However, having beaten off competition from their IHL rivals Pegasus and Ards to capture the talented duo, the club harbour hopes of at least finishing ahead of those two Ulster sides and maybe sneaking into the top four to secure a place in the play-offs.
Midfielder Colvin, who has 130 international caps to her name, recently returned home to start a new job after spending her Ireland career to date with Dublin side Loreto.
Wilson is also back in the province after playing in Germany with Harvestehuder and occasionally lining out for Randalstown when available.
The 19-year-old, who has won 39 caps, has been ever-present in the national squad since making her debut in January 2016.
Wilson said: "With the possibility of playing in the World Cup in London next year, I felt it would be important to be playing my domestic hockey in the EYHL.
"Joining Harlequins will be a fresh start and a chance to join a club who have a desire not only to stay up but to push for a place in the play-offs."
Colvin (27) says she is excited by the new challenge.
She stated: "There is a good mix of youth and experience in the Harlequins squad which is definitely on the up and I'm excited to be part of it."
