Ireland hockey coach named Philips Sports Manager of the Month after World Cup run

Ireland hockey coach Graham Shaw has been named Philips Lighting Sports Manager of the Month after his side's thrilling run to the World Cup final.

The girls became the first ever Ireland side to reach a World Cup final in any sport and the mastermind of that success has been recognised with the prestigious award.

Ireland topped their pool section comprising England, USA and India to qualify for the knockout stages of the World Cup in England for the first time. Further victories over India and Spain saw them go on the reach the final where they lost to the Netherlands.

Graham has been Head Coach of Hockey Ireland since 2015 and is one of Ireland’s most decorated players, earning 151 caps before embarking on an already impressive coaching career.
