Ireland men plan a busy summer with World Cup in the distance

By Staff Reporter

Ireland men are to play World No.5 Germany twice in Dublin later this month as they step up preparations for December's World Cup finals.

Craig Fulton's lads will take on the Germans at Pembroke's Serpentine Avenue ground in Dublin on May 18 and May 19, and then France three times in Cork between June 28 and July 1.

They will also face the USA twice at Three Rock on July 18 and July 19 before heading to Germany for the Hamburg Masters series in late July.

Meanwhile, Ulster Premier champions Kilkeel will go to Belfast Harlequins in the Anderson Cup semi-final on Thursday (8pm), with Instonians and Mossley to meet at Shaw's Bridge on a date to be confirmed.

The Quins booked their place with a 3-2 win over Portadown with goals from Michael Patterson, David Coates and Roger Craig, while Gregory Croft and Stephen Johnston replied for the Ports. Instonians beat Bangor 6-2 with William Robinson getting a hat-trick and Stephen Kelso, James Palmer and Gavin Leckey notching the others.

Both Bangor goals came from top scorer Ryan Burgess.
