McMaster double helps Queen's to Denman Shield title with revenge win over Lurgan

Denman Ulster Shield final: Queen's 2-1 Lurgan

Queen's have got their revenge on Lurgan in the Denman Ulster Shield final.

Lurgan won last year's decider, played between the same teams, 3-1 but Queen's have earned their own day of glory just a year later.

A Jessica McMaster double had put Queen's in the box seat, 2-0 ahead at the break.

Olivia Gibson gave Lurgan hope with 20 minutes remaining but couldn't find an equaliser.

The victory is Queen's fifth success in the historic competition but the first since 1933, while Lurgan's 2016 triumph was the first time the County Armagh club had got their hands on the trophy.

The results means it's a unique cup double for Queen's Emily McStea. The teenager was part of the Lurgan side that won the competition last year and has now retained her title at the expense of her old team-mates.
