Megan's silver lining after her World final woe

By John Flack

Megan Frazer has spoken publicly for the first time about her devastation at missing the World Cup final due to injury.

The Ulsterwoman, who had returned to the national team after two years out following cruciate surgery, was forced to pull out of the side that lost to Holland on Sunday.

She said: "I desperately wanted to play but the medics told me it would have been foolish to do so. I was absolutely gutted but, with hindsight, I might have done further damage to my knee which was still a bit sore, but at least I still have a silver medal round my neck."

Last night: Ireland Under-21s 1 (S.O'Brien) England Under-21s 1.
