When you're rooted to the bottom of the GOC Estate Agents Premier League and chasing valuable points, the last team you want to meet is current champions Lisnagarvey.

But that's what is happening to Mossley this weekend as fixtures secretary Raymond Hughes rearranges the Premier programme.

Originally there were no games this Saturday, but with a tight schedule to meet, and the loss of games due to the weather on December 13, the fixtures secretary not surprisingly rearranged a handful of games.

"We could have done without that," laughs Neal Glassey, skipper of the Newtownabbey club. "We're playing reasonably well, and even reached the Kirk Cup semi-finals, but we haven't been getting the results we deserve.

"We weren't due to meet Garvey until the following week, but they have a delayed Irish Senior Cup tie against Cork C of I to play on that date, so their game against us has been brought forward a week.

"We'll do our best against them but realistically it is results against the other teams in our half of the table that will decide the relegation places."

Mossley have just a single point from seven league games but with matches against the four teams immediately above them - Belfast Harlequins, Civil Service, Newry and Kilkeel - still to come, there remains hope that they can avoid the dreaded drop.

"The important thing is that it is in our own hands, so it's up to us to get a few wins," said Glassey.

Fellow strugglers Civil Service face league leaders Banbridge on Saturday and Kilkeel go to Instonians, while Newry and Belfast Harlequins have free dates.

There is no Senior One or Senior Two programme on Saturday.
