Pegasus in the last chance saloon against Scots after heavy defeat

By John Flack

Pegasus were outplayed by Club de Campo as they fell to a 5-0 defeat against the Spanish side in their opening game of the European Club Trophy tournament in Munich yesterday.

Now the pressure is on the Ulster side as they prepare to face Scots, Grove Menzieshill, today (9am, UK time) in a game they will probably have to win if they are to have a realistic chance of keeping Ireland in the second tier of continental competition next year.

Yesterday, Grove were beaten 3-0 by Belarus side Ritm Grodno, whom Pegasus tackle in their final pool game tomorrow (9am).

Pegasus travelled to Germany with a depleted squad although former Ireland player, Pamela Glass, who was unavailable yesterday, should shore up their defence.

First-choice goalkeeper, Sammy-Jo Greer however has been ruled out with a broken ankle while Ireland U-18 international Rosie Henderson is tied up with exams.

Pegasus had no answer to the Madrid side's penalty corner routine which yielded a hat -trick for Spanish Rio Olympian, Maria Lopez.
