If anybody thought David Goodwin dropping down to the Belfast Giants’ second line was a demotion for the captain, then five points in two games against the Manchester Storm last weekend showed otherwise.

Two goals and an assist on Saturday — and a post away from a last-minute hat-trick — and another goal and assist in the repeat fixture on Sunday was the American’s return against the Storm, despite the apparent reduced role on the gamesheet.
