Head coach Adam Keefe has achieved everything in the Elite League, except one thing: winning the Play-Offs.
either in his six seasons as a player for the Belfast Giants nor his four campaigns so far as coach has he lifted the final trophy on offer so, naturally, it is a big ambition to complete the set.
But, coming into this weekend, Keefe insists he hasn’t even allowed his mind to wander to a potential final yet, especially given how close they were to not making it through their quarter-final against the Coventry Blaze last week.
Rather, he has set his sights on getting the job done against the in-form Dundee Stars in today’s semi-final first before they give any thought to taking on one of the Cardiff Devils or Guildford Flames in tomorrow’s decider.
“We’ll worry about it if we get there,” maintained Keefe.
“At this point we’ve played every team in the league at least six times anyway, so we’re familiar with each team.
“A lot of the focus will be on us and how we play. I thought we lacked a bit of that last weekend, so that was the real focus for us in the week, getting back to our structure and how we play on both sides of the puck.
“If we take care of our game then we know we can have success — that’s been the focus for us all season and it won’t be any different this weekend.”
