Belfast Giants re-sign forward dubbed the 'Ginger Jesus' and the fans are loving it
Belfast Giants supporters are going mad at this morning's news of a brand new signing.
We say brand new, but Jonathan Boxill is actually a very familiar face at the SSE Arena, having played for the side from 2015 to 2017.
He has rejoined from Milton Keynes Lightning and news of his return has been met with sheer delight on social media, one fan even dubbing the 29-year-old 'the Ginger Jesus'.

As is clear to see, Boxill quickly became a firm fans favourite during his first spell in Belfast, posting 13 goals and ten assists, good for 23 points in 126 games.
The English forward enjoyed a well-earned call up to the Team GB squad for the 2015 and 2016 World Championships, where he helped the national side to back-to-back silver medals.
Speaking with Joel Neill, A View From The Bridge, on his return to Belfast, Boxill said:
“I kept in touch with Steve Thornton, Adam Keefe and some of the team following my two seasons in Belfast and graduating from Ulster University. People know how I feel about the city and I am very happy to be back.
“Preparations are well underway for the new season and, thanks to Colin Shields, I have been training hard for 2018/19 - around my wedding preparations of course.
“I loved my time in Belfast, the fanbase is fantastic. I am excited to get here in early August and get the ball rolling - I am very happy to be back.”
