Giants have no time to dwell on Steelers mauling, insists Keefe
Adam Keefe has declared that his Belfast Giants team 'has no choice but to respond' from Sunday night's record-equalling defeat to the Sheffield Steelers.
And he has revealed that minds turned straight away to tonight's Challenge Cup semi-final first leg against the Nottingham Panthers immediately after the 8-0 loss in Yorkshire - a scoreline which matched the previous record low against Coventry Blaze in February 2007.
With a now massive first v second Elite League double-header against the Cardiff Devils at the SSE Arena looming on Friday and Saturday, Keefe wants his players to come out fighting.
"You don't have time to dwell on defeats like that and, even in the locker room on Sunday night, we said that we had to forget about that game and move on quickly," said Keefe.
"Whether it was 1-0 or 8-0, we didn't get the two points and we have got to refocus immediately.
"The good thing for us is that we now have to prepare to play Nottingham in what is a really big game.
"They are a good team and there will be no surprises for us, so it's all about what we do ourselves."
Meanwhile, Keefe has been named assistant coach to Pete Russell with the GB national team.
"I am honoured to join to the coaching staff of the Great Britain national team," said Keefe.
