I'll bring my winning mentality to Giants, vows new recruit Leonard

By Stuart McKinley

Adam Keefe has bolstered his defensive unit by signing a player who is ready to help the Belfast Giants "win at all costs".

Curtis Leonard (25) arrives after spending the last two seasons with the Fort Wayne Komets in the East Coast Hockey League.

Leonard - a friend of Giants forward Darcy Murphy - led the table in assists for defencemen during his junior and university days and was ranked second in plus-minus rating last season as he helped the Komets to runners-up spot in their league.

"I'm good friends with Darcy Murphy and he told me how great the fans and the city of Belfast are - it was a very attractive place to play," he said.

"I'm a competitor and I want to win at all costs."

Leonard will make his debut against the University of Manitoba Bison on August 25 and 26.
