Keefe wants his Giants to focus on regaining that winning feeling
Adam Keefe has decided to take a different stance in response to seeing his Belfast Giants team slump to defeat against Manchester Storm.
Instead of obsessing with the league table and the fact that the Cardiff Devils hold a nine-point lead over his team with a game in hand, Keefe is simply focusing on winning matches - starting with tonight's home clash against the Dundee Stars.
A run of four defeats in six games has done major damage to the Giants' Elite League title hopes. Taking three points from a double-header in Belfast put the Devils in control and in turn Keefe is going to concern himself with his own team.
"We have to refocus, reset and regroup," said Keefe. "It wasn't the performance or the start we wanted against Manchester.
"We have to learn, respond and produce the kind of bounce-back performance that we need to get back in the points.
"I am not saying it's not possible for Cardiff to have a meltdown, but we are just going to focus on winning games.
"If something happens that lets us in, we want to be in a position to take advantage and make the three games we have to play against them mean something. The pressure is on them."
With Manchester just a point behind the Giants, and the Fife Flyers six back but with four matches in hand, Keefe admits to glancing over his shoulder.
"It's going to be a tight race and throughout the league, from second to seventh, there is not a lot of difference so we have to have the same approach for every game," said Keefe.
