New Belfast Giants signing Spiro Goulakos has set his sights on bringing the Elite League title back to the SSE Arena.
A defenceman with an impressive goalscoring pedigree, the 27-year-old will team up with his former university colleague Darcy Murphy in the Giants' line-up and the pair are coming to Northern Ireland with their eyes firmly fixed on silverware.
With a record that averages better than a point every other game throughout his career, Goulakos has the credentials which show that he has the potential to make a major contribution to the Giants' cause under new coach Adam Keefe.
"Myself and Darcy Murphy have been talking about how great it would be to win a championship together in Belfast," said Montreal-born Goulakos. "Whatever role coach Keefe thinks will benefit the team, I am willing to step into.
"I like to think I am pretty well rounded and play with an edge. I like to contribute on the powerplay although I like to take pride in my all-round game."
With three new faces and three returnees, Keefe has now completed his defensive unit and will seek one or two more forwards.
He does, however, know that Goulakos will chip in with goals.
"We were really excited to lock up Spiro Goulakos," said Keefe.
"Spiro is a highly offensive defenceman with a great shot. I know the fans are going to like watching Spiro in action."
