By Jim Gracey

Pop star Keith Flint will be a guest of honour at the Adelaide Motorbike Awards in the Ramada Plaza Hotel, Belfast on Friday, January 23. The Prodigy singer will make the special trip to Belfast to help crown the Adelaide Irish Motorcyclist of the Year.

Flint, who has sold more than 25 million records worldwide, is also manager of his own motorcycle outfit, Team Traction Control and one of his new signings for next season, Jordanstown's Andy Reid, is one of 22 riders nominated for the biggest honour in Irish motorcycling and his team boss is thrilled.

"Andy is a rider who has been on our radar all year, having delivered fantastic performances in the Superstock 600 Championship. He clearly has phenomenal pace notching up five wins throughout the season. In the paddock and away from the track, he's a great lad, the kind of character we want at Team Traction control," said Keith.

Voting is now open for the Irish Motorcyclist of the Year, and the winner will be presented with the unique Joey Dunlop Trophy.

Competitors from various disciplines of the sport have been nominated for the prestigious award in association with the Enkalon club. The winner will be decided by a special online public vote which can be accessed at and already thousands of fans have registered their vote.

Amongst the favourites to lift his uncle's trophy will be Ballymoney's Michael Dunlop for his sensational season on the roads when he became the first ever rider to win four Isle of Man TT races in successive years and giving BMW their first Superbike TT victory in 75 years.

Ballyclare's Jonathan Rea, who will fly in from pre-season testing in Spain for the event, also had a memorable year clinching third position in the World Superbike Championship, while Wee Wizard Alastair Seeley, from Carrick, was runner-up in the British Supersport Championship and also scored a double on the Thursday evening of the North West 200.

Tickets for the night are available to order by e-mail from:, or telephone 07584058810.

There's also a special video promotion on the TV section of the Cornmarket website
