Ballyclare nets Easter Stages Rally
The Easter Stages Rally, which this year replaces the Circuit of Ireland, will be based at Ballyclare, a venue new to Ulster motorsport.
Organised by the Ulster Automobile Club and taking place on April 6-7, it will be the second round of the premier Irish Tarmac Championship.
Supported by Antrim and Newtownabbey Borough Council, the rally will consist of two events, one covering the two days - Friday and Saturday - and a second joining in for the Saturday only.
Rally headquarters will be the Dunadry Inn, Templepatrick, but the start venue and centralised service area will be in Ballyclare.
Nigel Hughes, clerk of the course, said: "We are delighted with the support from Antrim and Newtownabbey Borough Council. We are looking for a large entry, and lots of spectators, to make this a roaring success."
The first six stages on Friday, located in Templepatrick, will start around lunchtime.
The two separate rallies will re-start from Ballyclare on Saturday for six stages around the Broughshane area before finishing in Ballymena on Saturday evening.
With the cancellation of the Galway International, the series begins with the West Cork Rally on St Patrick's weekend.
