Breen in major dress rehearsal for World return
It is a big weekend for Craig Breen as he makes his Hyundai debut in this weekend's Rally Estonia, a virtual dress rehearsal for his return to the World Championship in Finland next month.
The former Citroen driver, who has been back home winning round after round of the Irish Tarmac Championship this season, was a surprise call-up to join Thierry Neuville and Andreas Mikkelsen in the Hyundai team for Rally Finland. Now he gets his first competitive run in an i20 WRC on a rally which has many of the characteristics of the neighbouring Finnish stages.
Breen has already tested the car, but tomorrow it is the real thing as he and co-driver Paul Nagle join a line-up which boasts several World Championship regulars, including Toyota's Ott Tanak, Mikkelsen, Citroen's Esapekka Lappi and the Fords of Elfyn Evans and Teemu Suninen.
The Estonia starting list also includes the sensational 17-year-old Oliver Solberg, son of former World champion Petter, who will be partnered in his R5 VW Polo by his Ulster co-driver Aaron Johnston.
Meanwhile, Josh Moffett can all but seal the Irish National Championship if he wins Sunday's Sligo Rally.
The series has come down to a straight fight between the WRC Ford Fiestas of Moffett and former champion Roy White, but with four wins from the five rounds so far the younger of the Moffett brothers is odds on to add the National title to his Irish Tarmac and Forest crowns.
