By Sammy Hamill

Can't get to the Circuit of Ireland’s Power Stage in Lisburn city centre tomorrow evening?

Watch it live on the internet.

Can’t get near a computer? Then watch it on your smart phone.

In its 80th year, the Donnelly Group Circuit is stepping into the new media age by streaming the Lisburn stage on the internet.

Using the resources of associate sponsor UTV Drive, it will be broadcast from 5.30pm tomorrow at

They are also providing an App which can be downloaded free to allow rally fans to watch the stage on iPhones and other Android devices.

Starting at 6pm, the Power Stage will see competitors, led by four-time winner Derek McGarrity, making two runs through the one kilometre test which encircles the city’s Civic and Arts Centre at Lagan Valley Island.

The cars will race against the clock along Queen’s Road to the Wesley Street junction before doubling back on the dual carriageway, turning left across the bridge onto the island, past the civic centre, across the canal again and on to the finish on Gregg Street.

Lisburn City Centre Management are also laying on family entertainment throughout the day including a Rampage BMX display, live music and children’s amusements in Castle Gardens.

“This is the first time anywhere in the UK that a city centre stage has been used by a rally the size of the Circuit of Ireland and we are aiming to make it a fun experience for all involved,” said rally director Bobby Willis.

“UTV streaming it live on the internet and on smart phones will add another dimension to the whole Circuit experience,” he added.

The rally will roll into action from Armagh tomorrow (12 noon) for a first leg of 10 stages of which Lisburn will be stages six and seven.

There are a further six stages on Sunday before the finish back in Armagh shortly after 4pm.
