Derek McGarrity sees title dream fade away
Derek McGarrity took maximum points from the penultimate round of the Dunlop Irish national championship but it wasn’t enough to keep his title hopes alive.
A steady third place on the Clare Rally by Welshman Evans was enough to see the championship go overseas for the very first time.
The rally was won overall by Tim McNulty who isn’t registered for points but was using the Clare Rally to shakedown his S12 Subaru ahead of the Cork International at the end of the month.
McGarrity had led for much of the day in his Subaru but McNulty came with a late surge.
Meanwhile, Steven Kane collected three top six finishes in the penultimate series of races in the British Touring Car Championship at Donington.
