Donagh Kelly makes impressive Irish Tarmac Rally start
Donagh Kelly is on a roll. Two wins out of two have been the perfect start to this year's Irish Tarmac rally championship.
The Donegal driver and his Derry co-driver Kevin Flanagan dominated the West Cork Rally with a start-to-finish victory in their Ford Focus, finishing more than a minute ahead of the chasing pack, led by Sam Moffett in his WRC Ford Fiesta.
Stephen Wright made an impressive Tarmac debut in his R5 Fiesta taking third place ahead of Jonny Greer in another of the new R5 cars, a Citroen DS3.
But for the third rally in a row reigning champion Declan Boyle was hit by mechanical woes, this time fuel pressure problems effectively ruling him out on the first stage on Saturday.
Meanwhile, Derek McGarrity led from start to finish to win the Bishopscourt Rally, round two the Northern Ireland championship.
The five-times champion switched to a newly-acquired S14 Subaru to add yet another Bishopscourt win to his impressive record.
