Jennings has licence to thrill at Moonraker Rally
From the Circuit of Ireland and the Intercontinental Rally Challenge, Garry Jennings switches cars and scenery this weekend to defend his lead in the Irish forest championship.
The Kesh driver was an impressive IRC production division winner last weekend, finishing eighth overall in his Mitsubishi Lancer, but changes back to his 15-year-old Subaru Impreza 555 for the Munster-based Moonraker Rally on Sunday.
The in-form Jennings — who also leads the production category in the Irish Tarmac championship — has already taken maximum points in the first two rounds of the forest series and holds a six-point lead over Colin Britton from neighbouring Tyrone.
He will start the Moonraker event in the forests around Lismore ahead of the champions of the past two years, Owen Murphy and Pat O’Connell, both driving Mitsubishis.
Britton is at No.4 followed by two more Ulster drivers, Ian Cochrane (Mitsubishi) and Martin Cairns (Subaru).
