Lester and Buller on way up

Portadown's Hector Lester impressed in the GT race at Oulton Park yesterday.

Sharing his Rosso Verde team Ferrari F430 with Australian Allen Simonsen, Lester eventually finished just 11 seconds behind the winning Ferrari of Matt Griffin and Duncan Cameron after an hour of hard racing.

Later in the day they repeated the result, the gap between first and second just 12 seconds .

The Formula 3 race featured the first-ever ‘reverse grid’ in the British Championship and saw Britain’s Rupert Svendson-Cook take victory for the Carlin team.

Scarva’s Will Buller improved on his tenth place in Saturdays race with ninth position overall for the HiTech team.

It’s Buller’s first season in the ultra-competitive single seater category but he has already scored one victory — in a non-championship race in Brazil.

Today’s final day of the Ulster Kart Racing Championships at Nutts Corner Circuit is sure to be a close one if the superb racing by Portadown’s Gary Turkington and Belfast’s Raymie Eastwood is anything to go by.

In the near capacity 125 Rotax Max class for the fastest of the non gearbox machines, the early heat saw Turkington win from Eastwood with Garety Greer in third.

The next race though saw Eastwood take the win from Cookstown’s Stefan Lyttle.
