Rea still out in front after Bautista stops clean sweep in Portugal
Jonathan Rea remains 91 points clear at the top of the World Superbikes standings despite sharing the spoils with Alvaro Bautista in Portugal on Sunday.
Coming off a victory on Saturday Rea's hopes for a clean sweep were dashed when Bautista won race two on Sunday.
Bautista managed to recover from a poor start to secure victory by 0.11 seconds.
Rea had been hoping to emerge victorious after winning the 10-lap sprint race earlier in the day at Portimao, but was only able to manage a runner up spot behind his Spanish rival.
Englishman Alex Lowes finished in third place behind the World Superbikes top two, with Toprak Razgatlioglu finishing third in the final race.
"I wanted to make this weekend count as we know this is one of the strongest circuits of the year for me and Kawasaki," Rea told the BBC.
