Top pair in Polo club for Donegal

By Sammy Hamill

It was Marty McCormack who set the ball rolling with his decision to switch to a Volkswagen Polo for the final round of the Irish Tarmac Rally Championship, the Cork '20' International.

McCormack won on his debut in the car, his first victory in the Tarmac series, and now two former champions, Donagh Kelly and Josh Moffett, are following suit for tomorrow's Donegal Harvest Rally.

In fact, Moffett, who raced this season's Triton Showers Irish National Championship in a WRC Ford Fiesta, will drive the same Dom Buckley Motorsport R5 Polo used by McCormack for the event which is based at Redcastle. Kelly, however, is believed to have purchased a new Polo which he has been testing over the past few days.

He heads the entry list for the event, which is not part of this year's Irish national series, ahead of the WRC Mini of local man Joe McGonigle with Callum Devine scheduled to start at No.3 in his R5 Ford Fiesta.

Moffett is late entry and will be slotted into the 130-strong starting list.
