Browne excited to join Burrows for TT mission

Burrows Engineering/RK Racing have announced the signing of talented Irish road racer Mike Browne for the 2020 season.

The promising Cork rider showed his potential by finishing fourth in the 2019 Irish Supersport Championship, and ended the season in winning style during the East Coast Festival at Killalane.

Browne, who finished fourth at the 2018 Senior Manx Grand Prix on his Mountain Course debut, moved to the TT last June and showed his ability by finishing 18th and 20th in the two Supersport races.

The quiet 30-year-old will ride a Superstock Suzuki GSX-R1000 and a Yamaha YZF-R6 for John Burrows and the team at the national road races this season, although the TT will be their leading objective.

Team principal John Burrows said: "I've been keeping an eye on Mike Browne for a while now and I had a good chat with him at the TT last year. I'm excited to work with Mike because he's a young lad who I feel has good potential.

"He has a good attitude to racing and I was impressed with his 18th place in the Supersport TT race having only had limited laps in practice due to a bad run of weather. He is still inexperienced around the Mountain Circuit and hopefully we can help him take the next step in his career."

Browne commented: "I'm delighted to be joining Burrows Engineering/RK Racing. John runs a good team and having the bikes prepared for me will make a huge difference because I was spending a couple of nights a week in the shed doing my own spannering last season.

"The TT is the main target and I just hope for decent weather."
