Michael makes it a magical 50 for Dunlop clan
An emotional Michael Dunlop choked back the tears as he chalked up yet another milestone for Northern Ireland's premier road-racing dynasty.
His Lightweight TT success last night on the island was the 19th for the Ballymoney man, and it means the family has an incredible 50 victories to its name on the famous course, adding to the 26 for uncle Joey and five for dad Robert.
Coming as it does on the back of the racer's sabbatical from the sport, the thrilling win on board the Reparto Corse 650cc Paton is all the more remarkable.
"I didn't think I'd ever get back in (the winner's enclosure) again," he said after a thrilling 1.299 seconds win over Jamie Coward on a Kawasaki.
"The pressure was starting to kick in and I thought for a minute I had lost it but, despite being a bit rusty, we got the job done."
