North West 200: William Dunlop gearing up for a fresh start

William Dunlop attended this year’s Relentless North West 200 launch this morning with an extra spring in his step.

The Ballymoney ace joined a host of top riders at the swish Merchant Hotel in Belfast with his racing plans for 2011 confirmed.

William will ride for the Derry-based Wilson Craig Honda Racing team for 2011 after two and a half years with Chris Dowd Racing. He and brother Michael will compete in all five races at this year’s North West on Saturday, May 21.

William will also be supported financially this season by his seaside ‘local’, the Bayview Hotel at Portballintrae.

Owner Trevor Kane said: “It is a great honour to be supporting William this year.

“He is a brilliant rider with a fantastic year ahead of him and we look forward to seeing him enjoy success in all his events and especially at our own North West 200 race.”

l THE Dunlop name will also be to the fore at his home town Ballymoney’s annual motorcycle show and auto jumble, set for the weekend of March 4-5 at the Joey Dunlop centre, named in honour of his legendary dad.

Free trade stands are available in return for a charity donation. For info, phone organiser Davy Louden on 02827664464 or 07922060107.

l THE MCUI Tarmac committee has reminded competitors that to obtain a 2011 competition licence they must attend a flag seminar.

Four seminars have been completed over the past two Sundays but there are still approximately 200 competitors who have not attended.

This Thursday is the last chance to attend a seminar at the Chimney Corner hotel at 7.00pm.
