By Cate McCurry

Ryan Farquhar remains seriously ill in intensive care in the Royal Victoria Hospital, Belfast, North West officials have said.

The 40-year-old Co Tyrone rider came off his bike on the third lap of the Supertwins race, which he was leading.

He was airlifted to the RVH for surgery on Thursday night and is in intensive care. He is believed to have chest and pelvic injuries, but doctors said they were happy with his progress and are optimistic of a full recovery. The other rider involved in the crash, Dan Cooper, suffered dislocated shoulders but was back in the paddock on Friday.

Meanwhile, Castledawson rider Nico Mawhinney is stable in the RVH after his crash on Thursday.

Paul Gartland from Fermanagh, who crashed at University in Saturday's Superstock race, was admitted to Causeway Hospital on Saturday night and then transferred to the Royal Victoria Hospital, where he received treatment and is in a stable condition, according to medics.
