Power-packed Paul Jordan all revved up about 1000cc debut

By Paul Lindsay

Paul Jordan, who lifted the Man of the Meeting award at last year’s KDM Hire Cookstown 100, will make his 1000cc national road racing debut at the event this time around aboard a BMW S1000RR, thanks to Manx-based company Evolution Camping.

Jordan met the Evolution Camping hierarchy on a recent trip to recce the famous Isle of Man TT circuit, where he will make his debut in June.

Delighted to have secured the deal, Jordan said: “I rode an old Honda Superstock machine at the Ulster Grand Prix last year but didn’t race it, so I’m really looking forward to riding the BMW at Cookstown.”

Having finished second in last year’s Irish Supertwin and 125cc Road Race Championships and third in the Supersport category, the speedy Magherafelt butcher believes it’s now time he added his name to the 1000cc entry lists at national and international events.

“Cookstown is a way of dipping my toe in the water in the 1000cc class and from what people have told me, the BMW is a great bike to ride,” enthused Jordan.

“The bike looks superb in the Evolution Camping livery and with support from the likes of Metzeler tyres and Dave Hagan in the Isle of Man, among a load of other product sponsors, I’m really looking forward to debuting it at my local race,” Jordan said.

Evolution Camping offer contemporary camping and glamping facilities at both the Isle of Man TT and Classic Manx events, but have also secured deals to support accommodation overflow at this year’s Irish Open and Danish Open gold events.

Jordan will also campaign B&W Site Sealants Supersport and Supertwin machinery at the upcoming KDM Hire Cookstown 100 on April 28 and 29.

Also set to make an appearance at this year’s Cookstown 100 is Dan Cooper, a race winner at last year’s Ulster Grand Prix.

The Ferrett, as Cooper is affectionately known by his many friends, is looking forward to making his Cookstown 100 debut, which of course will see a certain Guy Martin on the grid aboard a Honda Racing Superstock machine, bolstering what is already an impressive entry list in all classes.
