Reid back from injury and revved up for glory with EHA

By Robert Jones

Andy Reid, who broke his femur in a nasty incident only last September at Silverstone, has joined Derry-based EHA Racing for the 2018 season, when he will campaign an RSV4 RF Aprilia in the 1000cc British Championship Superstock class.

The expressive 23-year-old from Jordanstown, who is also a talented tattoo artist, has been on the wrong end of season-ending injuries for the past three years and is delighted to be joining Edward Allingham's immaculately turned-out team.

"I'm really looking forward to joining EHA Racing on the Aprilia UK-supported RSV4 RF. And, yes, I think I can win the championship!" said Reid, who has been working night and day on his fitness since having his femur repaired in an eight-hour operation just four short months ago.

"Edward and Gail Allingham have shown great faith in me along with the support of my personal sponsor Cool Milk.

"The EHA Racing team and former racer Ian Newton, who is the team's Superstock Crew Chief, did a great job with the Aprilia last season and, from what I've seen of the bike in action, it is a great package."

Reid was a front-runner in the British Supersport class in 2015 and 2016 and last season grabbed his British Superbike opportunity with both hands, scoring points at Cadwell Park after securing an amazing top eight grid position as a rookie.

"I've always believed in my ability and, despite yet another setback last year, I remain positive and I'm hungrier than ever for success," smiled the loquacious County Antrim lad.

Joe Collier, the Midlands rider who won last year's Ducati Cup series, has also joined EHA Racing.

The pair will take on the best in the business on 1000cc EHA Racing machinery.
