William Dunlop's partner Janine Brolly has announced the birth of the couple's second daughter.

The baby was born on Saturday afternoon, September 15, but has not yet been named. The new addition is a younger sister to two-year-old Ella.

Janine confirmed the news on Facebook on Monday afternoon: "We welcomed our second little girl into the world on Saturday afternoon. She has the most amazing big sister and there is no question that Daddy would have been besotted. Name still to be decided but we are just all settling into life together at home.

"Grateful for two precious girls who are keeping my heart beating."

William was killed just over two months ago in a collision in practice at the Skerries 100 road races in Co Dublin.

William, son of the late Robert and nephew of the legendary Joey, was making his return to the sport after pulling out of this year's Isle of Man TT to be with Janine during her pregnancy.

In the 80s and 90s Joey and Robert did battle on the Irish roads and at the TT. Over the last decade it has been Robert's sons, William and Michael, who have gone head to head in races like this at Armoy. The Armoy event began in 2009 and is run on the roads where Mervyn Robinson, Frank Kennedy, Joey and Jim Dunlop of the famous Armoy Armada would have tested their race bikes during unofficial practice sessions! A SOD OFF THE OUL BANK I think they call this corner on the Mid-Antrim course OHaras Bend. They are usually named after the farmer or some local landmark, often the original inspiration having long since been lost to memory. But Dunlop is a name synonymous with road racing and this youngster is carrying on a fine tradition that will never be forgotten. William Dunlop, son of Robert and nephew of Joey, is the latest road racer from the worlds most famous road racing stable. Roberts other son Michael has also entered the fray and Sam Dunlop, son of Jim, the fourth member of the infamous Armoy Armada, is a roads regular too. The younger generation have lost none of the older guys style, as William cuts a line so tight at OHaras even the grass has to get out of the way. Sam Dunlop won the Newcomers 125cc Manx Grand Prix in 2005. William will compete in the TT for the first time in 2006 to carry on the illustrious Dunlop tradition and keep Ballymoney at the centre of the pure road racing world. PACEMAKER, BELFAST, 2014: This picture of William oDunlop n the Tyco Suzuki is from Walderstown in Co Westmeath. It is a typical Irish road racing scene and it was at those events William excelled. William won 108 races at the smaller National events plus four NW200s and seven Ulster Grands Prix which made him the fourth most successful rider on the Irish roads of all-time. Only Ryan Farquhar, his uncle Joey and his father Robert won more. Many of these races are run in small, out of the way places where very little else ever happens. The locals are delighted to see the road racing circus appear. They throw open their doors to photographers and are thrilled to have famous names like the Dunlop family in their midst for the weekend. By taking part in these small events the Dunlops help preserve the National road racing scene in Ireland. PICTURE BY STEPHEN DAVISON
