Motorcycling was once again in mourning last night following the tragic death of English rider Jamie Hodson during the Dundrod 150 National race.

The Lancashire-based rider was involved in an incident at the 'Joey's Windmill' section of the circuit.

His brother Rob Hodson was involved in the same incident, but was not seriously injured.

The 35-year-old, who was on his 600cc Honda machine, was taken to hospital where he passed away late last night.

An experienced rider, Hodson was the reigning Manx GP Supertwins champion.

It casts a dark cloud over the MCE Ulster Grand Prix where action was red-flagged following another crash. Event organisers, the Dundrod and District Motorcycle Club, offered their sincere condolences to the Hodson family and friends and asked for their privacy to be respected.

Meanwhile, William Dunlop is a doubt for tomorrow's races after breaking a bone in his wrist while at home.
