Newport stun Boro to set up City clash as Wolves progress

Newport Country 2 Middlesbrough 0

Newport County's fantastic FA Cup run continued as they stunned Middlesbrough to set up a fifth-round clash with Manchester City at Rodney Parade.

The Exiles were full value for the win, secured by Robbie Willmott and Padraig Amond goal.

The prospect of the Premier League champions and Pep Guardiola visiting Newport is scarcely credible for a club that folded in 1989 and were within 90 seconds of dropping out of the Football League in 2017.

County - who host City on February 16 - stand to earn more than £1m from their FA Cup campaign.

◊ TWO goals from Ireland international Matt Doherty helped Wolves sneak a 3-2 win over Shrewsbury at Molineux to set up a last 16 tie at Championship side Bristol City on February 17.
