Richards-Ross targets double

Sanya Richards-Ross is taking aim at a 200m-400m double, promising her best is yet to come after leading 400m qualifiers at the US Olympic trials.

Reigning world champion Richards-Ross won the US crown in 49.28 seconds and served notice that she is a threat for the gold medal in London.

“I'm starting to get my race rhythm down,” she said.

“I feel like the best is yet to come.”

Richards-Ross booked the second part of her double bid with a third-place 200m finish behind Allyson Felix, 200m runner-up at the 2004 and 2008 Olympics, and world 100m champion Carmelita Jeter — both trying a 100-200 London double.

“I wanted to be part of this team in two events,” Richards-Ross said. “They didn't make it easy for me but I'm glad I made it.”
