Allen suffers shock exit as Swail rolls on

By John Skilbesk

Mark Allen crashed out of the Dafabet Scottish Open in the first round after a 4-3 defeat to Ben Woollaston at the Emirates Arena in Glasgow.

The pair had to go to a deciding frame to determine who would progress, and Woollaston sealed it with an impressive 110 break to knock the Antrim cueman out at the first hurdle.

There was better news for another Northern Irishman as Joe Swail recorded a stunning 4-0 success against German starlet Lukas Kleckers.

The veteran Belfast potter rolled back the years to set up a second round clash with Ricky Walden.

Meanwhile, Ronnie O'Sullivan says he's "over the moon" that he's never been nominated for BBC Sports Personality of the Year.

The 42-year-old won his sixth UK Championship title on Sunday and yesterday beat Michael Georgiou 4-1 in the first round of the Scottish Open in Glasgow.

"I'm so happy I don't get nominated because I never would want to go," said O'Sullivan.

"It's not my type of thing - standing around at some gathering - it's not my scene and I really hope I never get nominated."

O'Sullivan plays Robert Milkins in the second round.
