Anglng: Tricky wind is no match for Jimmy

THE Lower Bann was bank high for the latest round of the East Belfast Coarse Anglng Club Winter League and anglers were forced to sit high on the bank side rather than the normal platforms.

This water height coupled with the strong winds of the past few days made for extremely challenging conditions and it was no surprise that very heavy feeder tactics were the order of the day.

Club and Irish International veteran Jimmy Douglas made the most of drawing end peg 15 to land the day's top weight of 5.920kg. His catch was made up mostly of roach but was greatly added to by a lone winter bream which weighed 1.5kg.

On the next peg down river, Michael Cormican had over 25 roach for 5.550kg while Raymond McAleese, on peg 25, also had a roach net consisting of 29 fish for 3.700kg.
