Banbridge out to show Bangor they warrant top dog status
Bangor's slim lingering title hopes can finally be blown out of the water when they travel to table-topping Banbridge today.
The Seasiders have uncharacteristically lost twice with the NIBA Division One campaign only halfway through. Already they are an alarming 10 points adrift of today's opponents, which means there will be no room for error at Linenhall Street.
In contrast, having already enjoyed a comprehensive victory over Bangor at Ward Park earlier in the season, there will be no shortage of confidence in the home camp.
Banbridge have led the pack from practically day one - and they intend to stay there, although current champions Whitehead are still sitting ominously in second place, six points adrift of Banbridge, who have played one game more.
"We are only halfway through the league programme, so it's far too early to be thinking about winning titles," said Banbridge's Aaron O'Keefe. "This game will not be a title decider by any means, but victory would certainly be a big confidence booster for the rest of the campaign."
