Belfast Giants need Coventry to lose out

Belfast Giants 4 Edinburgh Capitals 0

Steve Thornton and his Belfast Giants players have done all they can.

Now they must wait and hope.

And while they are waiting they must hope that Coventry Blaze lose at least one of their home-and-away double header against the Edinburgh Capitals this week in order to keep the Elite League title race alive until the last night, when the Giants go to Coventry on Sunday.

The Nottingham Panthers aren’t totally out of the equation, but it is mainly down to the Blaze to win their games to take the title — and if they don’t the Giants are ready to pounce.

Thornton and his men, however, must hope the Capitals put up more of a fight against Coventry than they did in Belfast last night.

The Giants were classy in Friday night’s 2-0 win over the Cardiff Devils and there were similarities in last night’s display as they maintained their challenge for the title and kept the pressure on Coventry.
