Cool Risk pays off at Drumbo

By Robert Fenton

A flying start to the Track Bookmakers & DTSC £1400 event (525) by the promising pup Coolykereen Risk was the highlight of the opening round at Drumbo Park on Saturday night.

John Byrne's Armagh brindle flew out of trap two to finish ahead of Beaming Rainbow and Barbican Angel.

Tracey Muldoon's Ardboe-based Tinas Peppa won the second heat and a tight finish in the third, saw Dundalk's Kenneth Finnegan's consistent Across The Bay hold on for a short-head victory over Shes A Mover but the story of this race was the qualification by Droopys Zero, owned by Waterford's Sean Dunphy, taking third in her first race since last August.

Talking Tactics came right back to his best in the last heat for Helen's Bay owner Charles Martin. Returning to four bends, Tactics showed the form which saw him clock 28.87 last June in beating Badminton Rua.

Drumcrow Clara put in a top-class display, overcoming first-bend trouble and recovering for a brilliant and easy win in the final of the Feedwell Turbo Greyhound Feed & DTSC 550 final.
