Two nine-dart finishes helped Phil Taylor claim victory over James Wade in last night’s Premier League final at Wembley.
With the first ever nine-darters in a major final, Taylor completed a 10-8 victory over Wade to seal an unprecedented clean sweep of all the major titles and round off an unbeaten league campaign.
His two nine-darters had the Wembley crowd — who had been frustrated at Sunday’s postponement due to a power cut — raving, and he was two darts away from a third in an amazing final.
“I'm gobsmacked because it's incredible to create history and two nine-darters in a match is great, but in a final is just amazing,” said Taylor.
“It has to be the greatest final in history.”
Wade said: “I obviously wanted to win, but Phil had to hit two nine-darters to beat me. It was an unbelievable game.”
