Daryl’s out to take revenge on the Wolf in BDO World Championship

DARYL Gurney is hungry for revenge when he faces 2007 champion Martin ‘Wolfie’ Adams at Lakeside tonight for a place in the BDO World Championship quarter-finals.

The 23-year-old Londonderry player went out at the same stage to Adams last year but is confident of toppling the England captain this time around.

“I am relishing another crack at Martin,” said Gurney, who beat number 14 seed Scott Mitchell in a first round thriller on Monday night. “I let Martin off lightly last year. I definitely had chances.”

Also in last 16 action tonight is Martin McCloskey — originally from Londonderry but now based in Donegal — who takes on England’s Garry Thompson and will be hopeful of success after beating number 11 seed Steve West in round one.

There were second round wins last night for defending champion Ted Hankey, who beat Willy van der Wiel 4-1, and Tony O’Shea, 4-0 over Stephen Bunting.
