Irish Olympian Fionnuala McCormack will be aiming for a hat trick of victories at Greenmount this Saturday following yet another superb second place performance in the Great Edinburgh Cross at the weekend.
The 31-year-old will be racing in the 40th occasion of this IAAF Cross Country International which is part of a World Series.
At Holyrood Park she refused to be intimidated by the Turkish duo of Can and Akdag.
While the pair broke away early on with Can eventually securing victory by some 30 seconds a grimly determined McCormack slowly closed the gap and overhauled Akdag in the closing stages to beat the Euro silver medallist by five seconds.
McCormack said: "It was tough but it was good.
"I enjoyed that a lot more than the European Cross partly because I am now more competitive.
"I love racing in Edinburgh."
Another sign of McCormack's current top form relates to the fact that she finished 20 seconds ahead of Euro fourth placer, Ancuta Bobocel of Romania.
In Edinburgh an Irish 4x1 km mixed team, which included Olympians Ciara Mageean from Portaferry and Newcastle's Kerry O'Flaherty, finished fourth in 11 minutes 22 seconds, ahead of Scotland and England.
