Froch prepares for May title clash with Johnson
Carl Froch has said he is “very optimistic” his WBC super-middleweight title defence against Glen Johnson will take place on 21 May.
The Nottingham boxer is due to face the Jamaican in the semi-final of the Super Six Series.
While a venue has yet to be confirmed, Froch, 33, wants to fight in England.
“Of my last four fights, only one was at home and that was at at 3am in the morning,” he said.
Froch's last fight, a unanimous points victory over Arthur Abraham which allowed him to regain the WBC super-middleweight title, took place in Finland while his defeat against Mikkel Kessler in April last year was fought in Denmark.
“I would love England to give my fans the chance to see me in action, but this is world-class boxing and sometimes you have to get away to the States.”
