Prize fighters: Sunghyun Lee and Jonny Smith are set for battle

Grace Goody believes she can take a major step towards her world title dream at the Stormont Hotel tonight.

The 19-year-old, who has been at the Billy Murray Pro-Kick gym since she was six, will bid to land the WKN European bantamweight belt.

There was little between the opponents at yesterday’s weigh-in with local woman Goody scaling 58.1kg and Germany’s Kubra Akdut 57.8kg.

It’s a big night for Goody and she is convinced that she will rise to the occasion.

“I’ve had a long, tough camp and it’s time to go and bring the title back to Pro-Kick. You don’t get what you want, you get what you work for,” said Goody.

The top of the bill features Jonny Smith, who fights for the WKN welterweight title over five rounds against Sunghyun Lee.

Promoter Murray is expecting the show he has dubbed ‘Knockdown Lockdown’ to serve up some fireworks, with Smith’s battle leading the way.

An intercontinental and world amateur champion, Smith now believes he can land a professional world belt.

“It was a natural progression,” said Smith in regard to turning professional after an amateur career that took him all over the globe. “I haven’t lost a fight, and this has been two years in the making. I’ve put a lot of hard work in and had broken bones, broken teeth, you name it.

“This what I turned professional for, the goal was always to be a world champion.”

The other main fight on the bill will see local man Jay Snodden battling Ranieri Cingolani for the WKN European featherweight title.
