Ireland boss Neil Booth admits he is filled with optimism ahead of his team's appearance in the Home International Series at Essex County Bowls Club, Southend-on-Sea over the weekend.

The side is bolstered by a posse of players that helped the Private Greens League retain the IBA Under-25 Inter-Association Championship in Dublin in July.

Mark Petticrew and Andy Booth - son of the manager - were part of the successful PGL outfit and their reward is a first junior international appearance.

Craig Marshall and Sam Wallace are also due to make their debuts this weekend, while Jordan McBride has been recalled.

"There were some outstanding performers on show in Dublin, which gave the selectors quite a headache," said manager Booth.

"It shows the level of talent that is coming through at this level," he added.
