The Regent House pupil is overnight leader in Wisconsin
Newtownards teenager Lucy McGonigle is on the brink of glory at the World CrossFit Games.
The 15-year-old is the overnight leader in the Under 15 section in Madison, Wisconsin. If she can fend off competition Hungary’s Mira Varga and America’s Caroline Sabatini, she will be crowned the ‘Fittest Teen on Earth’.
The CrossFit Games is an annual athletic competition that combines gym exercises, weightlifting, and gymnastics movements across a series of events.
After two days of competition the Regent House pupil has won two events, secured two third placed finishes and finished fifth in one event.
McGonigle, who is ranked number one in the world in her age category, trains at CrossFit Enable with coach Sam Duckett. She also represents Great Britain at weightlifting.
