County Down para-skier Kelly Gallagher has taken silver in the downhill event at the Para Alpine World Championships at Sella Nevea, Italy.

The 33-year-old, alongside guide Gary Smith, came second in the event behind British rival Meena Fitzpatrick to secure the medal.

Gallagher, a 2014 Paralympic gold medallist, had earlier finished fourth in the slalom and giant slalom, but put in a good run to finish on the podium in the downhill.

That's the Bangor woman's seventh medal at the World Championships in her career, while Fitzpatrick and her guide Jen Kehoe made it three medals in this year's World Championships with their gold.
