ProKick kids jet off to Malta

By Adam McKendry

A kickboxing club from Belfast are heading on a trip of a lifetime to Malta this weekend for an international competition.

ProKick's Peace Fighters, which was set up at Unicef in 2008, will be taking 44 young fighters to Valletta for a three-day tournament.

The kids, aged between seven and 12, will come up against fellow athletes from around Europe as well as getting the chance to travel abroad.

This is the culmination of months of work by the club to raise the funds to go on the trip.

"For many of the kids this will be their first time flying let alone entering a boxing ring, so I'm really excited for them," said head coach and ProKick founder Billy Murray.

"Kickboxing doesn't get any funding so we at the ProKick Gym have worked hard fundraising along with the kids' families and friends to raise the necessary money to help them have this experience."
