Singles star Chloe targets Tokyo mixed doubles alongside brother

Three-time Olympian Chloe Magee has her sights set on Tokyo 2020. The Raphoe player is in action for Ireland today against Sweden and England at the European Team Badminton Championships in Poland.

"I have enjoyed being back on the singles court, though my longer term aim is mixed doubles qualification for the Tokyo Olympics with my brother Sam," said Chloe, who recently picked up two doubles titles in the Forza National Championships in Lisburn to achieve a new record of 23 titles.

"We face two tough teams in Poland but we did well to win our qualifying group last November," she said.

Ireland beat Norway 4-1, Hungary 4-1 and Austria 3-2 to qualify, with a key win from Chloe's clubmate Rachael Darragh and Alpha's Sinead Chambers against Austria in the women's doubles.

Both join Chloe, Sam and Josh Magee to complete the Ulster contingent of the team along with Scott Evans, who has travelled from his Denmark base, and Dubliners Sara Boyle and Nhat Nguyen, the current European under-17 singles champion.
