Zwang turns on style to grasp singles title

Beiwen Zwang, the Singapore- born American number one, won the women's singles title in the Carlton Open Badminton Championships in Dublin.

After beating the Ulster and Irish number one, Chloe Magee from Raphoe in the semi-finals, the in-form American beat Beatriz Corrales of Spain 21-19 17-21 21-10 in Saturday's final.

Scotland's Commonwealth Games medal prospects Robert Blair and Imogen Bankier lost out in the mixed doubles final 9-21 21-19 21-13 to the Dutch pair Jacco Arends and Selina Piek and Piek picked up a second title partnering Eefje Muskens to a 21-17 21-10 win over sisters Hui Ern Ng and Hui Li Ng of Malaysia.

The mens doubles title went to Adam Cwalina and Prezernyslaw of Poland who beat the Dutch pair Jacco Arends and Jelle Maas 21-9 21-16.

Ramden Mohmed Misbun of Malaysia won the men's singles beating Dieter Domke of Germany 21-13 21-18 in the best of the finals.
